GLPI Agent is a small program installed on each computer you want to inventory. It collects hardware and software data and sends it to a GLPI server, so IT asset records fill themselves instead of being typed in. The GLPI Agent download is free under GPL-2.0, and the project publishes a 64-bit MSI installer for Windows plus packages for macOS and Linux.
This page is about the agent only. The server that stores and displays the inventory is a different program: GLPI. The agent has no database or ticketing of its own.

What it does
- Inventories the local computer: hardware, installed software and system data.
- Runs network discovery and network inventory tasks, for example to find SNMP-capable devices, using the agent’s task modules.
- Supports a Wake on LAN task.
- Sends results to a GLPI server using its native inventory protocol. It also keeps compatibility with the FusionInventory plugin for GLPI, because it is based on a fork of the FusionInventory agent.
Installation notes
- Download the MSI from the official GitHub releases page (GLPI-Agent-1.21-x64.msi).
- Run it and enter the address of your GLPI server when asked, or set it later in the agent configuration.
- Follow the installation documentation for silent installs and for Linux or macOS packages.
Who should use it, and who should not
A good fit: an IT team that already runs, or plans to run, a GLPI server and wants current asset data without manual entry.
Not a fit: a stand-alone tool for people who have no server to report to. The agent is not a remote-control or monitoring product.
Limits and what we have not checked
Not tested yet: we have not installed or run this version. Facts come from the project’s release page and README, checked on 6 November 2026. Which agent version matches your server version should be confirmed in the GLPI documentation.
FAQ
Is GLPI Agent the same as GLPI?
No. GLPI is the server and web application. GLPI Agent is the client-side inventory program that sends data to it.
Is GLPI Agent free?
Yes. It is open source under GPL-2.0.
Which Windows installer should I use?
The release provides a 64-bit MSI (GLPI-Agent-1.21-x64.msi) and a 64-bit ZIP archive.
Does it work without a GLPI server?
It is designed to report to a GLPI server; the project also keeps compatibility with the FusionInventory plugin for GLPI.
