Unattended access to PCs on the office network

1. Install LiteManager Pro - Server.msi on the target PC. The same package runs in Free mode.
2. When prompted, click Change password and set a password of at least 8 characters.
3. Allow inbound TCP 5650, the default port for direct connections:

4. On your workstation, install LiteManager Pro - Viewer.msi. On first start, choose the Free licence type. You can change it later under Help > Change license type.
5. Add a new connection, enter the PC’s IP address or DNS name and the password, then open a control, view or file-transfer session.

Reaching machines behind NAT by ID

1. In the Server settings, enable connection by ID. The Server registers outbound with the public NOIP service on TCP 5651, so no port forwarding is needed at the remote site.
2. Note the ID, or assign your own, and keep a strong password on the Server.
3. In the Viewer, use Connect by ID and enter the ID and password.

Running your own private NOIP router (LMNoIpServer.exe) is restricted in the Free edition. Larger fleets that need it usually move to Pro.

One-off support without installation

1. Have the user start ROMServer.exe, the QuickSupport module that runs without installation.
2. The user runs it and reads you the ID it shows.
3. Connect from your Viewer by ID. Nothing is installed, so closing the program ends access.

Install and first run

Windows. One Windows package holds both Pro and Free. The Server and Viewer MSIs need administrator rights to install, and the Server runs as a service so it is reachable before anyone logs on. The Viewer keeps its data in C:ProgramDataLiteManager Files.

macOS, Linux, Android, iOS. Free apps are published for these platforms. The Linux x64 package and, since 5.2, a console daemon let you reach Linux machines. Feature coverage differs by platform, and the Windows modules have the full set, so check the official documentation for the platform you need.

Ports. TCP 5650 inbound on the Server for direct IP connections; TCP 5651 for ID connections through NOIP. Both defaults can be changed in settings. Corporate proxies and outbound filtering are the usual reason ID connections fail.

Security basics. Use unique Server passwords, turn on two-factor authentication where you use LM Server, and avoid exposing 5650 directly to the internet. Use ID connections or a VPN instead.

Limitations

• Free covers up to 30 controlled computers.
• Missing from Free: device manager, RDP integration, screen recorder, ticket system, centralised server settings, registry editor and audio/video chat.
• Private NOIP server use is restricted in Free.
• Non-Windows apps have fewer features than the Windows Viewer and Server.
• The interface is utilitarian and takes some getting used to.
